One of the areas I have been growing in as a Noble Subject is my intentionality and it is the God of Intention that I want to draw upon here. Heaven is full of intention. Nothing that transpires there is done in a haphazard manner. On earth as it is in heaven.
Sometimes it is hard to know how to change a thing to look different on a Monday morning. We may know how a thing looks or feels but we may not know how to move forward toward change. When I began to see God in the light of his intention, things began to change for me.
There are so many tools we can draw from; sanctifying time every day has been one of them.
I was drawn to the place in Genesis when God sanctified time. It was the first thing he sanctified and declared holy. He measured time incrementally, defining a beginning and an end, morning and evening- the first day. He declared over time, ‘it is good!’
And so I began each day by sanctifying time, declaring over my day that God himself deemed it to be good. Lamentations 3:23 brings it out in this way –
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his tender compassions never fail. They are new, afresh every morning; great, beyond measure is your faithfulness.
What Lamentations is saying, pointing back to Genesis is that God in his wisdom put upon each and every day a grace and anointing specific to that day. Today, which has never been lived before is replete with treasures deposited on time. God imprinted unique characteristics so that today is different from yesterday and tomorrow.
I began asking, 'What is the flavor of the day?' 'What task am I meant to be doing?' Because I want to synchronize with Him, I don’t want to assume my ‘to do’ list is His. This prayer was crafted to keep me open and available, leaning into each new day. I also use it to pray for others broadly and individually tweaking it here and there as needed.
The first part of the prayer is for cleansing time. As with many things, time as well can be defiled.
Father God, we ask you to sanctify time. We ask you to go back in every branch of our family line which we represent and cleanse the family line removing all sin, rebellion, iniquity and trauma bond. We respect those boundaries you created on the first day and we cleanse them now. We cleanse the boundaries you created and all the violations that have taken place from the past.
Lamentations so beautifully tells us that your steadfast love never ceases. Mercies you have for us are endless, new every morning! We celebrate their newness, this morning for your faithfulness is great.
According to your word we ask you to release to us the treasures that you have imprinted on this new day. We believe there is a grace and an anointing on today different from yesterday and tomorrow. And because it is different so we too can be different, like a slate wiped clean, today is a fresh new start for us all. We bring before you our thoughts and attitudes and imbedded trauma from the past even. We ask you to cleanse and wash them as we choose to declare that the newness of this day changes everything.
Release the treasures you have deposited on time. We ask you Father,
‘What is the flavour of the day? What task are we meant to be doing?’
Teach us to move in the right direction having inquired of you. Help us to stand back throughout the day if something is not flowing to observe and evaluate. Synchronize us with yourself at work, home, school..so that we are rightly positioned for your blessings to flow toward us today.
In your mighty name we pray, Amen.
