As we continue on in the study of emotional joy and look at restoration, we will take a look at Psalm 68:1-6
May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
may his foes flee before him.
May you blow them away like smoke—
as wax melts before the fire,
may the wicked perish before God.
But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful.
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds;
rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,[c]
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Let's look at this Psalm against the back drop of your house being on fire. The alarm goes off, everyone runs out. The firemen come. Your house is destroyed. Insurance is involved. Your house gets repaired. This is a broader picture of our covenant relationship with God. It is not just about the rescue or the firemen or God's intervention in the time of crisis. It is a bout God being a rebuilder.
This Psalm begins with God arising and scattering our enemies. This is a good thing as we need to put out the fire first. That is part of the covenant and God intervenes in that. We look at the end and we see God puts the lonely in families. The covenant covers our whole life not just the rescue or trauma but it is a commitment to rebuild what is damaged and to unpack the treasures God has placed in you.
Wherever you are in your journey, do a comparison from now to last year, five years ago, ten.. What things are better? What things are worse? In fact you may see alot has changed and improved as a whole lot of rebuilding and restoration is going on. Perhaps you haven't kept track or measured adequately?
I bless you adrenals and kidneys with savoring the rebuilding and restoration that is going on in your life. I bless you with tasting the healing joy that comes from seeing this faucet of the covenant. I bless you with seeing not just the fruit of rebuilding positive things you see as a result of the process of rebuilding but i bless you with savoring the covenant foundation for the rebuilding.
God is in covenant with you not just to save you from eternal fire but to transform you, to allow this life to be lived in an extraordinary way as he unpacks the treasures, shapes the world around you in order to produce the fullness of his purposes. I bless you with celebrating the rebuilding that is rooted in covenant.
we would love to hear from you
