Genesis 33:19 He (Abraham) purchased a section of the field where he had pitched his tent from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for a hundred pieces of silver.

Abraham purchased a field. A burial ground. Fast forward to Joshua 24:32

The bones of Joseph, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the part of the field that Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for one hundred pieces of money. So it became the inheritance of the tribe of Joseph.

What do these versus have to do with our adrenals?

It is all about the insularity of ownership. God had promised to them (Abraham and Isaac) an immense piece of ownership. What they owned was a little patch. All they saw incarnated was a burial site.

This is very much a picture of our relationship with covenant, an unfulfilled covenant, maybe not even in our lifetime. We see a portion that is visible, actionable in our hands. We can point to and touch and taste and proclaim fulfilled. That which is fulfilled is only a  tiny fraction of what’s deemed promised to us.

How will we see the two? Do we look at the portion fulfilled and proclaim how small it is? Or do we see them through the grid of first fruits? The viability of the whole of the covenant? Can you find an anchor point? Will you look at the insularity, that piece that doesn't seem to be advancing. Will you be discouraged or encouraged?

prayer for insularity

I bless you adrenals with affectively embracing by faith the whole of the covenant not just the part that is manifested.

I bless you with defiant faith which looks at the word of God not the works of God and says, because God has spoken I will believe him. Because God has spoken I will believe the whole covenant will be mine in the fullness of time, even though all I can see now is a small patch.

I bless you with a profound faith, the kind of faith that God expected you to have being manifested in your thought processes so the fear and panic are relatively unable to enter your world because of the depth of your convictions about the whole covenant. I bless you adrenals in Jesus name.

This hits home deeply for me. How easy it is to look at the glass half empty. We get to choose what we look at. Sometimes it is all about the word of God …
