Upcoming EventsSOUTH AFRICA NEXT
I leave soon for South Africa and the conference for 'social entrepreneurs.'
A social entrepreneur changes the way change happens. This will be a hugely refreshing environment for me, I suspect.
So many people want change but they fight me over the process of change. They can't even accept the current tools for change.
To be in a room full of high energy, ideologically driven people will be a whole lot of fun for me. I expect the Q and A to be extraordinary.
The seminar on 'Road Map to Maturity' is over. We did much less monologue than usual and devoted more time to Q & A. It was very valuable, not just for the people who asked the questions, but for many others.
I am toying with the idea of an event that is nothing but Q & A. We could do it live or in a conference call format. Wonder how it would play out.
Unexpectedly the material on the spiritual significance of baptism landed very deeply with people. After I shared that concept, there was extensive discussion of the implications of that truth.
At present, Hanna and I are discussion different strategies for making a Kingdom impact in Switzerland. The seminar model seems so 1970s. It is familiar, popular, easy to do and not very transformational. We think there must be a format that would produce a higher ROI for the King.
At present we have a bucket full of ideas on the table, but no Triple Word Score Scrabble word has conveniently formed itself in our trays.

SLG Coaching- Speed Prayers
The strategy for the SLG Coaching has changed. The last six posts have focused on how God taught the spiritually illiterate Hebrews how to worship Him.
From the start at the burning bush we see a God Who Came.
By learning to watch the change of seasons we learn of the God of Nature.
The Sanctifying God becomes clear as we see land become holy just because of His presence on it.
Meet the Tri-Generational God and His passion for family.
Are you remembering the God Who Sees?
This last one landed the deepest for me. For all of us who have lost our dreams in the brickyard, but have a God who still dreams of our fulfilment. It is not over yet. Meet the God of Progress.
Come and join with us as we continue to press in together in celebration of our great God.
All I can saw to this one is “WOW!” and YES!
I worship Him with immense awe!! Thank you Arthur for this worship prayer!! Sonia
Thank you. This post resounds deeply.Needed to hear this. Tayla
Among the Gum Trees
Please give a warm welcome to Nathan, a special visitor to sit and chat with us 'among the gum trees'.
HEY NATHAN, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
I'm 39, been in Redding, CA and attending Bethel for ~ 6 years; I am married with 3 children (14,11,9) and 2 new foster children (8,5) that we are looking to adopt; they've been with us for a little less than 2 months. Adoption is something my wife and I have talked about for many years and the opportunity has just come to move into that.
I came for BSSM in 2009 and attended for 1 year but felt the Lord direct us to "put down roots" in Redding. I feel a call to business although I grew up in the fishbowl of being a pastor's kid. I currently work as a computer programmer but feel a shift coming there, where I am getting ready to step into something new in business in this season. I love to write and verbally process.
3 words to describe me: It's funny you mention this because just the other morning, I wrote my "ABC" statement in answer to God's question about what I want as it relates to a call I have been feeling to business:
A - a voice (be a voice, release the voice God has given me) B - business (my arena) C - change (I want to see impact/transformation/change)
HOW DID YOU INITIALLY CONNECT WITH SLG?
I started tracking with Arthur in around 2004 through my pastor connecting with his teaching through the Free Methodist church. I very much resonated with his teaching on Redemptive Gifts. I have followed his teaching intensely during some periods, and from a distance in others. For the past several years, more intensely again.
The blessings of Job CD has also been very meaningful to me as I've gone through a period in the last ~ 6 years where I've really struggled with depression and a lack of a clear sense of purpose to my life.
DO YOU KNOW YOU’RE REDEMPTIVE GIFT AND IF SO CAN YOU GIVE US A GLIMPSE OF HOW THAT PLAYS OUT ON ANY GIVEN DAY?
I've thought for many years I was a prophet. Recently through some helpful discussions with some SLG'rs I've realized/come to the conclusion I am a mercy who early in life adopted a "tough" exterior in order to survive and make it in a brutal world.
I am in process as God leads my spirit out of the self-made prison and allows this more free, creative mercy to express himself to and in the world.
Some words to describe me/my spirit: fun-loving, creative, spontaneous, verbal processor, declarative, encouraging, feeler, empathetic. I love to meet with people 1 on 1 and synchronize with their story and bless/encourage them with strength to continue to the journey and to be overcomers in it...
WHAT TEACHING HAS MADE THE MOST IMPACT IN YOUR LIFE AND HOW?
Probably redemptive gifts is the biggest impact and more recently, the realization that I am a mercy has really released permission within my heart on a deep level for the creative, collaborative person to come to front, to "stand and be recognized".
I am in a process where in the last few months, I feel like my understanding of my design has in the past been good, but slightly off-center. I feel that of late my sense is more on-center and I am operating more from the core of my person. Ephesians 3:16,17a is a Scripture I felt the Lord give me that describes this dynamic He is doing in me right now:
..that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
I would consider myself, regarding the more deliverance-focused teachings, to be a novice.
I LOVE TO 'DISCOVER A 'BIGGER VIEW OF GOD'. CAN YOU SHARE A GOD-SIGHTING, STORY OR POEM TO HELP US ALL DO THAT?
Below is a poem I wrote that shows the tension of being who He has designed me to be rather than anything else...
Don't forget to pray for Nathan or leave a blessing for him.
My Secret Place
One of the very first portions of scripture I memorized was Psalm 91 in the NAS Bible. (back in the day)
HE WHO DWELLS IN THE SHELTER OF THE MOST HIGH WILL ABIDE IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY
The King James calls the shelter the ‘secret place’.
I was captivated by the ‘secret place’. God knew I needed one, desperately needed one. I still do.
HE WHO DWELLS IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH WILL ABIDE IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY.
I must have rehearsed this psalm a multitude of times every day for years. It has been embedded, imprinted in such a way that I live out of this place a good portion of the time now.
I WILL SAY TO THE LORD, 'MY REFUGE AND MY FORTRESS, MY GOD IN WHOM I WILL TRUST!' FOR IT IS HE WHO WILL DELIVERS YOU FROM THE SNARE OF THE TRAPPER AND FROM THE DEADLY PESTILENCE.
My secret place started as an internal one, a place I could run to and be safe. For so long there was nowhere to run and there was no safe place to hide. It became my refuge and my fortress. It became a place where I could learn to trust again.
HE WILL COVER YOU WITH HIS PINIONS, AND UNDER HIS WINGS YOU MAY SEEK REFUGE FOR HIS FAITHFULNESS IS A SHIELD AND A BULWARK.
It was a place where his faithfulness became my shield. Even when I had to wait a very long time. His faithfulness protects me and gives me hope.
YOU WILL NOT BE AFRAID OF THE TERROR BY NIGHT, OR THE ARROW THAT FLIES BY DAY; OF THE PESTILENCE THAT STALKS IN THE DARKNESS, OR THE DESTRUCTION THAT LAYS WASTE AT NOON. A THOUSAND MAY FALL AT YOUR SIDE AND TEN THOUSAND AT YOUR RIGHT HAND, BU IT SHALL NOT APROACH YOU. YOU WILL ONLY LOOK ON WITH YOUT EYES AND SEE THE RECOMPENSE OF THE WICKED.
Never underestimate the power of God and never overestimate evil. That’s not easy for me to say, but I am saying it.
Psalm 91 is full of drama. It fits the bill as I continue to walk out my salvation with
fear and trembling. A good kind of fear to replace the terror and a trembling that is set off by awe.
