sapphire-connect newsletter

Greetings,

WELCOME to September's sapphire-connect newsletter to help you discover a bigger view of GOD.

September means springtime in Sydney! I can't pretend I don't miss the fall in N.Y. I do. It was my favorite time of the year. But living in reality calls for embracing a season you might otherwise rather not have. It's the letting go of the old to embrace the something that is new.

For behold, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers have already appeared in the land.. Song of Songs 2:11.

now, on to the newsletter...

Window of Reconciliation - September

Reconciled to What?

Remember the most important theological question of all time? It is “so what?”

If truth does not have application to our daily life, even though it is profound truth, it is pointless.

Today we have a fresh understanding of what the windows of reconciliation look like “on Monday morning.”

The four seasons of reconciliation in the course of every year are:

March 10th to 30th is for Reconciliation with Community June 10th to 30th is for Reconciliation with Land September 10th to 30th is for Reconciliation with God December 10th to 30th is for Reconciliation with Our Destiny

We are now in the season where reconciliation with God is the focus.

Regardless of the presenting problem, the root issue is the absence/silence of God when His people need Him most. And THIS becomes the devil’s playing field for causing alienation from God in the September window which God designed for deep reconciliation with Himself.

The enemy has massively defiled this time with our emotions of hopeless despair stemming from a false sense of abandonment. Those who have any propensity toward despair, or who tend toward feeling abandoned by God, could experience these emotions in an overwhelming way during this window.

So what do we do?

Among the Gum Trees

Please give a warm welcome to Tracy, a special visitor to sit and chat with us 'among the gum trees'.

HEY TRACY, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?

My name is Tracy Thomas. I am originally from Canada, but have been based in Los Angeles for over a decade. I am currently the worship pastor at Coast Christian Fellowship in Torrance, CA. I also regularly lead worship at Expression58 in Glendale, CA. In addition, I am the worship director at Fusion with Rabbi Jason in North Hollywood. I am a full-time itinerant worship leader, and lead worship for a number of different organizations, events, and conferences, including most recently TheCall, SAFA, Iris Global, PIHOP, and Ascend Malibu.

I have released a worship album entitled "Before the Dawn." My husband and I have a ministry in which we do worship outreach nights in Night Clubs, with our band Doma Carta. We have done worship events in almost all of the major Night Clubs in Los Angeles over the past 6.5 years. I've also been a professional actor since I was 13, and have an extensive acting background in theatre, film, and TV.

HOW DID YOU INITIALLY CONNECT WITH SLG?

Over 10 years ago my Mom gave me Arthur Burk's book "Blessing Your Spirit" and turned me on to a bunch of his free audio downloads. As soon as I started listening, I quickly dived deeply into his materials with my husband. We have been listening to his teachings ever since.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR REDEMPTIVE GIFT AND IF SO CAN YOU GIVE US A GLIMPSE OF HOW THAT PLAYS OUT ON ANY GIVEN DAY?

I am redemptive gift of Exhorter. Listening to Arthur's materials on the redemptive gifts, and even having Arthur personally give me language concerning my design as an Exhorter, has helped me to understand myself with much greater clarity. Some of the major ways this plays out daily are related to time, relationships, and motivations. I definitely struggle with the time issue correlated to Exhorters. I always try to pack way too much work into too little time, and have an unrealistic concept of how much I can accomplish in specific windows of time.

In terms of relationships, I often revert to seeking honor and approval from man, instead of keeping my vertical relationship with the Lord on the front burner. I also tend to constantly find myself motivated to "change the world" in every single project or event I'm involved with, and I often don't seem to have realistic expectations surrounding how much impact I can have on others. In terms of the positive sides of the gift, I'm definitely great with people, make a large impact on everyone around me, and have a knack for revealing the nature of God to others!

CHOOSE A TEACHING THAT HAS MADE AN IMPACT IN YOUR LIFE AND TELL US HOW?

The teaching that has impacted me the most is the "Blessings of Job" series. I've experienced a substantial amount of suffering in my life, and this teaching series always helps me to regain a much larger picture of who the Lord is, and how powerful He is. This teaching has been a life-source to me for many years. It always widens my perspective and causes me to have more fear of the Lord. It takes me to a place of reverent awe for our Creator!

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT ONRAMPS TO GOD. WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR KEYS OF MUSIC FOR INTIMACY AND HOW DO YOU MOST READILY CONNECT?

I most readily connect to the Lord out in nature, especially at the ocean shore or on a mountain top! Rolling fog coming down over mountain peaks is my favorite! I get escorted right into the Presence of God with no effort when I see that sight!!!

I LOVE TO DISCOVER A BIGGER VIEW OF GOD. CAN YOU SHARE A GOD-SIGHTING OR STORY TO HELP US ALL DO THAT?

Many years ago, 2 years before my Grandma died, she suddenly became very sick on New Year's Eve. We got a message late in the day that they didn't think she would even live through the night. She was in a remote area of Canada, and we were in New Hampshire. We felt that we should try to fly up there as soon as possible, at the chance of maybe getting to see her one last time. We looked at flight prices that night to fly out the next morning, and the cheapest fare was over $700 each, one way. I was very close to my Grandma, so was devastated about the idea of not seeing her if she was going to pass.

We prayed all evening, and kept checking flight prices. One last time at midnight I checked the prices again, and all of a sudden   click here to read more

Online Study Group

We are delighted to be hosting another study group, a place to encourage and be encouraged to challenge and be challenged; to take from what we have learned, through our successes and our failures and in our own key of music share it in a safe and welcoming environment.

This time around, our study will be focusing on an incredibly powerful book called, Unleashing the Power of Your Story.

Many of you already know Megan, the author of this timely piece, and it is with great pleasure to be reading this with other people who are at all different places on their journey. The thing is none of us have arrived and we can all, and I mean all, encourage, support and lift one another up as we go along.

If you are interested, please drop by. We would love to travel with you as we read this book together.

Here are some questions we are exploring from chapter 4.

Having read this first fourth chapter, Connections, what are your thoughts and emotions that bubble up? How do you relate to what is being described?

Can you name any blocks that you have removed from your Jenga tower?

Do you feel connected to the flow of history? What's that like for you? How about your family, heritage or nation?

What about your personal continuum? How connected are you to your own destiny?

Describe what your perspective of the future looks like for you. Is it exciting, daunting, uncertain..?

What others are saying about online study groups ~

Looking forward to joining in with this study. May God bless each person that He selects to participate with a deeper revelation of who He has designed them to be. May nothing hinder those He calls from engaging and growing as the weeks progress. May God use the teaching, insights of others, fellowship and emerging community to reveal more of His greatness as we dive into this together. Denise

I feel like I am sitting around a table with a group of friends having a cuppa. Some who have shared, some still to share and hopefully will. Thanks for being here :) Much appreciated.
